Connecting R830 to MD3060e Software?
Hello,
I purchased a new R830 server and MD3060e storage device. I have them connected via the HBA cards and when opening openmanage I can see the connectors and drives on the array. I attempted to install the "Storage Enclosure Management Software" and then I attempt to access via URL.
Both give me no GUI or interactions. I also installed the ProwerVault Modular Disk Storage which doesnt seem to detect the array.
Any ideas?

PowerVault MD3200 on PowerEdge R420 OMSA
Hi,
I have a PowerEdge R420 with PowerVault MD3200 attached. I can see all virtual disks in the OS and it work well. But I can't see the PowerVault MD3200 virtual disks on OMSA (OpenManage Server Administrator) like the picture in attachment.
It says "6Gbps SAS HBA" but "No Virtual Disks". I wold like to see the virtual drivers to be easy to monitor.
Is that a way to do that?
MD3000i in reset state (probably)
Hello,
we add one HD ST1000NM0045 (labeled Dell) to expand a VirtualDisk on our md3000i. A few seconds after the disk is inserted (warm), the md3000i goes offline, the steady orange led means "reset state".
Even with cold insert, same result. No led blinks on the disk.
First thing I thought it was a compatibility problem, but cannot find the HD Support matrix anymore. Purchasing manager told me he bought those disk from Dell, stressing they are for an md3000i.
Thank you.

Password Reset for TL2000 iSCSI-SAS Bridge
Hi, i have a little difficult and need some help.
There were changes in the site affecting the IP addresses, so it is necessary to change the IP address of two TL2000, the problem is that the previous administrator did not leave information of the passwords to configure the iSCSI bridge. Is there any way I can enter the web interface of these connections to make the necessary changes?
I would appreciate your help,
Freddy Rojas.
MD3820F Direct Connect with PERCH810 SAS
Good morning,
We are tying to direct connect a Host to a MD3820F via a PERCH810 via sas
Its a two port card and we have port 1 connected to SAS port 4 controller 0 and port 2 connected to SAS port 4 controller 1
but when i go into the bios of the PERCH810 it will not see the MD3820f at all
I apologize if I am completely off base here
MD3200I Failed or Degraded SAS Port
My MD3200I is displaying a few error messages. Two SAS port failed.
"RAID Controller Module1, Physical Disk Channel 2, Port:0"
"RAID Controller Module0, Physical Disk Channel 2, Port:0"
The other message is: "Expansion Enclosure - Loss of Path Redundancy."
The guru tells me to check the cables, but Im not sure what cables its referring to. It seems odd that two cables on separate modules would fail at the same time
All hard drive lights are green. The MD3200i itself is blinking amber.
PowerVault NX3200 automatically restarting every 14 days.
We have a PowerVault NX 3200 used as our file server for our office. Every 14 days like clockwork, the server shuts down and restarts. At first this was just a minor nuisance, but now it is starting to interfere with our day to day operations. This started on December 2nd 2016. Going through the logs in the open manage software has yielded little help, other than showing us that it is exactly every 14 days. As of the start of this month, it shows our PERC battery as failed for 65 seconds after startup, and then reports that it is operating normally. Any ideas as to what might be causing this restart, and failure of the PERC battery? Where should I start looking?
Will a Dell PowerVault work with a Dell Optiplex 780 SFF?
I would like to know if the Dell PowerVualt will work with the Dell Optiplex 780 SFF? Here's a couple of PowerVault models that I was considering:
Dell PowerVault LTO4-120 - 0X69MX
Dell PowerVault LTO-4 - 0XW272
If yes, how would I be able to do it? I just would like to know if it's feasible.
MD3000i Host has been crashed
Hi,
We having a problem with our MD3000i. The host that is connected to the md3000i has been crashed and we want to access the data from a different host . we did install the storage management on a different server. can we just removed the crashed host from "Edit- Host-to-Virtual disk" and add a different server?
Do we need to install ISCSI intiator on the new server?
Thanks
PowerVault TL 2000 web interface options greyed out
I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with a remote TL2000. It has two drives in it, one is showing an "exception FB 0 - Error". I'm logged in as admin via the web interface, but all the options to physically do anything (such as reboot, move tapes, etc.) are greyed out. I tried logging off and back in as a superuser, in that case I am blocked from rebooting as expected.
On our other TL2000's, I can log on as admin and do any of these things. But on this box it gives me the usual warning to stop any backup jobs, I say okay, and I can see the greyed out reboot button but it cannot be pushed.
Is there something about that particular error that might indicate a physical obstruction or something? Or is there some other reason I'm locked out of administrator tasks when logged in as admin?

MD3420 and shared virtual disk with two hosts
Hi all,
I have a PowerVault MD3420 and a couple of PE R430 equipped with a HBA Sas external controller each.
I have created a a diskgroup and an hostgroup with my two servers, which are connected using multipath.
I'm able to see the virtual disk from both the servers. I've created an ext4 partition on the virtual disk and I can successfully see it from the serves.
Here comes the issue: I can't manage the access from both the server. When I mount the partition, this is the behavior:
- from server #1, I can write a file
- server #2 is unable to see the new file
- to see the new file from server #2, I need to unmount and mount again the partition
- if i umount/mount the partition on th server #2, server #1 will be unable to see or write new modifications
Is there something wrong with my setup? Do I need to change the fs type?
TIA for you help and hints

Confusion about ways to handle drive with predicted failure H810
I've read the H810 manual, the OpenMange Help pages, and a Knowledge Base article about this. I'm still confused. This is a RAID 6.
A drive with a predicted failure is still online. So if you want to deal with it you can:
1.) Force it offline. This immediately causes a rebuild on the hot spare. One caveat mentioned only in the OpenManage Help pages is you are urged to do a consistency check first because they say in some circumstances forcing the drive offline will cause loss of data if the consistency check isn't done first. Wouldn't this caution also extend to a drive failure? Can't do a consistency check before a drive failure :-).
2.) If you have "Allow Revertible Hot Spare & Replace Member" and "Auto Replace Member on Predictive Failure" enabled then (I think) the controller tries to just copy the predicted failure disk to the hot spare. This is not a rebuild, just a copy so it's faster. You may be able to manually do the replace member command as well to do the same thing if "Auto Replace Member on Predictive Failure" is not enabled. I don't know.
In any case there are two approaches listed above for handling a disk with predicted failure. The Knowledge Base article only mentions number 1 (without the check consistency caveat).
What is the best way to do this?
ITDT fails on PERFORMANCE DATA with UNEXPECTED DATA
ITDT fails on PERFORMANCE DATA with UNEXPECTED DATA
OK here is how it's connected with drivers versions etc:
HP DL160G6 running Windows Server 2008 R2 (Up to date) --> HP P411 SAS HBA (Firmware 6.64) --> New SAS cable --> TL4000 (2 x LTO 4 IBM Drives)
In device manager I see "Unknown Medium Changer" and under Tape drives I see "IBM ULT3580-HH4 SCSI Sequential Device" as I should.
Unknown Medium Changer is using the stock Microsoft driver dated 6/21/2006 version 6.1.7601.17514
IBM ULT3580-HH4 SCSI Sequential Device is using the stock Microsoft driver dated 6/21/2006 version 6.1.7600.16385
The Library shows up as "3573-TL" in ITDT running "C.30" firmware.
The LTO4 Half Height drives show up as "ULT3580-HH4" in ITDT running "C7QJ" firmware
IBM Tape Diagnostic Tool - Graphical Edition version is 9.1.0.20161006
First I stop all Backup Exec services via "BEUtility".
When I run ITDT I scan and the drives appear in the list as they should.
I select the drive not the library and click TEST --> HEALTH TEST
It goes through the motions for about 6-8 minutes and eventually fails with error code "UNEXPECTED DATA" on "PERFORMANCE DATA.
Now I've tried multiple different tapes some brand new and some that have data on that I don't care about. I can confirm these drives work as I've pulled the 2 LTO4 HH version 1 drives in question from the TL4000 and put them into a TL2000. They pass every ITDT test possible. I've tried the Symantec drives and it fails with the same issue. I did try the TL4000 drivers located here: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=0T0DW however they work but with ridiculously slow speeds of 7 MB/s. I believe this is driver related but I don't know which to use as 7 MB/s is completely unacceptable. Maybe I missed something somewhere.
I have the dumps/logs from one test via Server --> TL4000 when it fails and I have the dumps/logs from another test of the exact same drive but with the iSCSI to SAS card in the TL4000. I have the dumps/logs attached below:
Serial numbers have been redacted.
** Screen Caps, ITDT Files, and Drive Dumps can be found at the following link due to forum upload size limits **
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7Cj8ywlDoD5el9TOFVuNGxQcGM
I have uploaded to the link above a screen cap, drive dump, and ITDT lib dump for when I tried using the IBM and Dell drivers which yielded 7.93MB/s. It's in it's own folder with a read me explaining what driver versions, etc.
I'm at my wits end with this. Any insight possible would help.
Thanks
